Terms of Service

Chomp · effective 9 October 2026

The short version

Chomp is a fitness and nutrition tracker. Use it sensibly, don’t use it to harm anyone, and understand that the numbers it shows you are estimates rather than medical measurements. Your data stays yours, and you can export or delete it at any time. If any of that doesn’t suit you, please don’t use the app.

Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Chomp, which is run by a sole trader in Australia, ABN 86 835 241 048. By creating an account or using Chomp you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the app. If these terms change in a way that materially affects you, the app will tell you before the change takes effect; continuing to use Chomp afterwards means you accept the new terms.

Not medical advice

This is the most important term here. Chomp calculates estimates (calorie needs, macronutrient targets, calories burned, and the nutrition content of recipes and meals) using general-purpose formulas and AI models. They are not clinical measurements. Chomp is not a medical device, not a healthcare provider, and nothing in it is medical, nutritional or professional advice. Do not use it to diagnose, treat or manage any medical condition.

Talk to a qualified professional before making significant changes to your diet or training, particularly if you are pregnant, under 18, have an eating disorder or a history of disordered eating, or have any medical condition. You are responsible for your own training and eating decisions.

Who can use Chomp

You must be at least 16 years old to have an account, and you must be able to enter into a binding agreement. Chomp is not designed or intended for children. One person per account.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself and don’t let anyone else use your account. You’re responsible for what happens under it. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes, so nobody, including us, can read yours; if you lose it, use the reset flow rather than asking for it back.

Acceptable use

Don’t:

  • upload content you don’t have the right to use, such as recipe method text or photographs from other people’s books, sites or apps that you then share or publish as your own (saving a recipe from a link for your own cooking is fine: see Your content);
  • upload anything unlawful, abusive, or that infringes someone else’s rights, and don’t use the sharing features to send unwanted content to other users;
  • try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, access accounts that aren’t yours, or automate the AI features to run up costs;
  • resell or redistribute the service.

Accounts that do these things can be suspended or removed.

Your content

Your workouts, recipes, meals, photos and notes remain yours. You grant Chomp only the permission needed to run the service: to store your content, show it back to you, and, when you explicitly choose to share something with a friend in the app, deliver a copy to that person. Shared items are snapshots: once a friend saves one, they have their own independent copy, and later edits or deletions on your side don’t reach it.

Saving a recipe from a link keeps the original page’s ingredients, method and notes in your recipes, with a link back to the source, for your own use. If the author asks, Chomp may remove the copied method and notes from those recipes, leaving the title, ingredients and link; how authors ask is on the Support page.

Some features send content to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) for processing when you explicitly tap them. The Privacy Policy sets out exactly which features do this and what they send.

Cost and Chomp Pro

Chomp is free to use. Chomp Pro is an optional subscription, bought in the iPhone app through Apple’s App Store, monthly or yearly. The price, in Australian dollars including GST, is shown in the App Store before you confirm. Pro adds the AI features, all of your Progress history and views, and unlimited workouts and recipes; logging, calorie tracking, meal plans and friends stay free.

Free trial. If you’re eligible (Apple allows one per person), your first week of Pro is free. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it becomes the paid plan you chose and Apple charges your Apple ID. If you allow notifications, the app reminds you 2 days before the trial ends.

Automatic renewal. Pro renews at the end of each month or year until you cancel, and Apple charges your Apple ID within the 24 hours before each renewal. If the price changes, Apple tells you first and, where the law or its rules require, asks you to agree.

Cancelling. Cancel any time in your iPhone’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions (or in Chomp: Settings → Chomp Pro → Manage). Cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal to avoid the next charge; you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting your Chomp account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel it in Apple’s settings too.

Refunds. Apple handles payments and refunds (reportaproblem.apple.com). Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Fair use of AI. AI features cost real money each time they run, so they have fair-use limits. On Pro these are set well above normal use: currently 1,000 a month for the typed AI features and 60 photo imports a month, with 5 photo imports during the free trial. Without Pro there are a few free tries a month. Some AI features are Pro only.

Founding members and gifts. Pro given at no charge (to founding members or as a promotion) lasts for the period stated when it’s given; founding members’ Pro has no end date. If Chomp Pro were ever discontinued, you’d be told in advance. If what Pro includes is significantly reduced, paying subscribers will be told before their next renewal.

Availability, and what isn't promised

Chomp is provided “as is”. It runs on hosted infrastructure and may be unavailable at times for maintenance, faults or reasons outside our control, and features may change or be removed. No promise is made that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its estimates are accurate for you specifically.

Keep your own copy of anything you can’t afford to lose. The app has a full data export for exactly that purpose.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Chomp is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, or any outcome arising from decisions you make based on the estimates it shows. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded. In Australia, that includes the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, which apply regardless of what this page says.

Ending it

You can stop using Chomp whenever you like, and you can delete your account from within the app. Deletion removes your account and the data attached to it, including any photos you uploaded; copies a friend has already saved from something you shared with them remain theirs. Accounts may be suspended or closed for breach of these terms, or if the service is discontinued, in which case reasonable notice will be given so you can export your data.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and the courts of Australia have jurisdiction over any dispute, without depriving you of any protection you have under the law of the country you live in.
